How to Start Selling on Etsy, Amazon,or Online

Let's Bake You Some Money: Where to Start MAKING your food item to sell online

In this series of blog posts I will lay out steps for you to take if you are interested in starting your selling of candy or baked goods online ! I started a series of ebooks I have released the first 2 and have several others in the works, but in the meantime I wanted to start a series to help you get started !

One of the first thing I get asked all the time is do I need a commercial kitchen to produce a food products ? NO, but it is a smaller investment if you can find a kitchen in your area that can be rented and use their facility to produce your items. Some areas to think that have kitchens you can utilize, Churches, Schools, Private Schools, Community centers, Restaurants. Each location may operate differently and may have different types of policy and rules, but all do in most cases offer the kitchen for use.
Lets Start with Churches many churches in communities all over have a kitchen where they make the foods they serve parishioners and the community, and in most cases they may allow you to use for free! Simply approach the churches office manager to explain what you want to do and produce and see if there is any way to rent the space for a few months. I would say offer to "rent" first because it is a better more professional way to approach any establishment. Many times churches will allow you to use it free and normally on their time though. It can be  a tricky to corredenat the production of your products with a separate kitchen due to their scheduale, but it can be a cheaper start !
The Next would be Schools many schools do have a kitchen and many are fine with the use of them, but you do have to approach the principles in most cases to explain what you are doing and what you would need from them. Many Non- public schools are easier to aork with and use their facility.
Community centers are located all over the country and many are VERY easy to use  their facility (most of the time ) FREE of charge ! They have simple kitchens and many allow you to use them while they are open during the day and weekends. Simply ask their "manager" or the person in charge of the facility !
Community centers can also be a  great way to "try" out your products with tastings at the community center can spread the word about your goodies !
